Welcome to the Online Tour for Byrd & Chen's Canadian Tax Principles, 2013-2014 Edition.

The 2013-2014 edition of Canadian Tax Principles continues to include the features that have made it one of Canada's leading taxation texts. These include:

  • Exercises that deal with specific and clearly defined taxation issues. These Exercises are integrated into the text and solutions are provided in the Study Guide.
  • Self Study Problems that extend the student’s understanding of more complex issues. Solutions for these are provided in the Study Guide.
  • Extensive and varied Assignment Problems for use in the classroom. Solutions to these problems are provided only to instructors.
  • Tax Software Problems designed to be solved using Intuit Canada's ProFile tax return preparation software. The solutions to the Self Study Software Problems are provided to students in the Study Guide. The solutions to the Assignment Tax Software Problems are provided only to instructors.
  • Access to Intuit Canada's ProFile Tax Suite is available for use when working through the text and includes tax preparation for:

    • the FX module containing additional taxation forms.
  • Comprehensive Cases that are cumulative in that they incorporate issues from previous chapters.
  • Sample Tax Returns for individuals and corporations.
  • Practice Exams for students with detailed solutions and marking guides (Chapters 1–11).
  • Key Terms at the end of each chapter. These terms and their definitions are compiled in a Glossary in the Study Guide.

Each copy of this text includes a CD-ROM and a Study Guide.

The Study Guide, which comes packaged with the text at no additional cost, contains the following items:
