What Teachers are saying about Citizenship: Issues and Action

Well organized text!

Thanks for asking me to review Citizenship: Issues and Action. I particularly like the way the chapters move from 'Me, A Citizen' to local to provincial to federal to global. This is a good strategy. The resources in the text are rich and there is wonderful variety. I love the consistency of the format and the fact that local as well as national and intraprovincial issues are addressed. It's good in Ontario to see what is happening in Alberta.

I love the consistency of the format and the fact that local as well as national and intraprovincial issues are addressed.

Relevant and Interesting!

I've just completed my review of Citizenship: Issues and Action. The quality of the resources in this text are outstanding - very rich, very interesting.

Strong on Skills

I like the 'Be Purposeful' and 'Be Active' activities. They provide a political action component - - something very important to citizenship/civics. The 'Focus on the Issue' case studies are relevant and interesting for kids. Well done!"
B.T. - Windsor, Ontario

Fact and opinion, cause-effect, creating categories, ranking - all important skills for an open-level course. The hands-on activities are excellent! Participation and interaction among students should be encouraged"
S.T. - Kingston, Ontario

Good for my academic and lower-level students!

There is a wealth of skills in this text. I love the gradual building up of skills. I also like the variety of activities. Some of my lower level students don't get past recall questions."
A.B. - Sudbury, Ontario
