Voyages

Voyages is a multi-faceted 10-12 program rich in resources and opportunities for students and teachers. The many elements of the program reflect the diversity of learning styles and instructional strategies present in classrooms today. Voyages is designed to reflect the growing linguistic and intellectual maturity of the senior French student by:

  • addressing students' interests through contemporary themes and authentic documents
  • encouraging students to become more independent learners
  • enabling students to complete meaningful tasks and projects involving communication in French
  • enhancing students' general learning and thinking skills
  • providing students with opportunities to develop and integrate their language skills

Features of the program:

  • high-interest themes that are relevant to the students' environment and designed to foster critical thinking skills
  • suggested end-of-unit performance tasks reflect the growth in language knowledge over the course of each unit
  • students have opportunities to express their own thoughts, feelings and opinions by taking an active role in their learning at each step of the process
  • authentic documents taken from French-language sources are designed to evoke in students an awareness of and a sensitivity to the francophone world
  • presentation of theme-related information adds an important dimension to the students' general language awareness and second language learning strategies
  • research topics are provided for independent work
  • Blackline Masters provide supplementary oral and writing practice for new language problems
