What is e-text?

e-text is an interactive electronic version of the Math Makes Sense student books. Students can log onto e-text via the Internet in class or at home to review the day’s math lesson prior to completing assigned homework. Each lesson includes the following key features:

Feature Description
Connect (highlights the significant math for students, teachers and parents) is provided with Multimedia support for every lesson in the year Students have the opportunity to revisit the day’s math lesson at their own pace

Is presented with multimedia support and audio, so reading is not a barrier

Can be repeated or skipped as desired

Provides teachers the option to use this resource for consolidating the lesson with the whole class
Alternative Multimedia Example is provided for every lesson in the book Students who are still struggling with the concept are offered an alternative example

Uses a different, usually more visual or concrete, approach to the example in the student textbook, and is designed to appeal to various learning styles
Self-Assessment Quiz Students are able to do a 5-question quiz to see if they understand the concept. The quiz can be taken again with new questions on the same topic
Print Practice section (homework) Students can access the practice at home without carrying the textbook home

  • A navigation system that can be experienced by a stand alone student or shown to a class by the teacher
