Teaching with MyEconLab
MyEconLab is designed to help your students practice and test the skills needed to succeed in your course.
Students can work the problems in the Study Plan and the Practice Tests on their own; you do not need to set anything up. When a student takes a Practice Test, their results are reflected in the Study Plan. Sections for which all questions were answered correctly will be marked with a star to demonstrate mastery. Sections for which some questions were answered incorrectly will be marked with a red arrow
, indicating that more study is needed.
Students can work the problems in the Study Plan and then re-take a Practice Test to demonstrate increased mastery. Note: Homework and practice results do not update the Study Plan. Students must take a quiz or a test to update their Study Plan.
If you wish to create your own Homework, Quizzes, or Tests, the tools to do so are located in the Homework Manager and the Quiz & Test Manager Detailed instructions can be found in the Instructor Help.
Before you assign work for credit, you may want to assign questions from the section called "Get Started with MyEconLab," which you will find at the beginning of Chapter 1 in your course. These questions will walk your students through the basics of using the MyEconLab instructional window, including:
Creating Homework, Quizzes, and Tests
In the Homework Manager or Quiz and Test Manager, you can create assessments in MyEconLab that include any combination of the following:
TestGen: Test Generation Program
The TestGen test generation program enables you to create online or pen-and-paper assessments using the computerized test banks for this course.
Pearson Canada's Instructor Resource Center Web site will allow you to download the TestGen computerized test bank for this particular course. To obtain the latest version of the TestGen software program, visit the TestGen site. Use your MyEconLab login name and password to access either site.
Question Maps
This Microsoft Excel file is a tool to help you assemble your tests more efficiently. It identifies which questions in each chapter include algorithmic variables, which are accompanied by guided solutions, and which include graphs. The TestGen questions are not referenced in this file since they do not contain any algorithmic components or guided solutions.
