Nice Timing
Gourmet Meals in Minutes
Pamela Steel, chef, columnist and author

Canadian Flag

Since its inception three years ago, the very successful and award-winning President's Choice Magazine has become a showcase for fabulous recipes accompanied by gorgeous photography. Among the magazine's most popular columns is "Nice Timing," by chef Pamela Steel.

The concept of Nice Timing, the book, is simple: each of the 40 menus features easy but impressive appetizers, entrées and desserts. All recipes are timed to be completed within an hour.

Each menu is accompanied by suggestions for when, where, and what to drink. For instance, if one summer evening you decide to throw a Mediterranean-style dinner for four (Grilled Meze Platter, New Potato Salad with Wild Greens and Honey-Dipped Fruits and Nuts), finish with an ouzo to sip in the garden, served in tall glasses with plenty of cold water.

More of what's inside:

  • Warm Scallop Salad, Nori-Wrapped Chicken on Soba Noodles, and Mixed Berries with Vanilla Yogurt
  • Pissaladiere, Roast Quail with Wild Mushroom Bread Pudding, and Perfect Apple Crumble
  • Tomatoes with Red Onion and Parmesan, Smoked Turkey Wraps with Carrot and Apple Salad, and scrumptious Lemon Cheesecake
