One way to use this site at the start of the course is to briefly explain a few of the jokes on this site, especially ones that will relate to the topics to be covered in the course.

5. http://www.policyalternatives.ca/ The Canadian Centre For Policy Alternatives site has been created by an independent non-profit Canadian research organization concerned with economic and social issues. This site introduces the students to current economic issues and policies.

9. rfe.wustl.edu/EconFAQ.html This site, "Resources for Economists on the Internet," lists over 1 000 resources in 68 sections and sub-sections available on the Internet and of interest to economics students. Almost all resources are described in this virtual guide.

10. caster.ssw.upenn.edu/~restes/praxis.html PRAXIS: Resources for Social and Economic Development provides access to an array of archival resources on international and comparative social development. PRAXIS has been designed to meet the informational needs of two audiences: social work educators and students with international interests; and, other educators and students who require assistance in locating useful national and international resources on social and economic development.

11. www.pc.gov.au/ The Productivity Commission is the Australian Government's principal advisory body on microeconomic reform. It conducts public enquiries and research into a broad range of economic and social issues. The Commission's web site includes full copies of most of its inquiry and research reports.

12. econltsn.ilrt.bris.ac.uk/catalog.htm The CTI Centre for Economics maintains the Catalogue of Economics Software, which is prepared by the CTI Centre for Economics at the University of Bristol and is updated periodically. The emphasis is on economics software for use in teaching and learning.

2. www.acpc.org The Association of Coffee Producing Countries (ACPC) aims to stabilize coffee prices at levels that are fair and remunerative to producers and yet consistent with increasing consumption. Read about the ACPC's background, strategy, and events.

3. www.cato.org/pubs/pas/pa-274.html An article on how rent controls hurt the housing market and contribute to homelessness. Good comparative data for Canadian and U.S. cities.

If you click on one of the links under the Industries section of the web page you will be presented with current news articles relating to the industry you selected.
